Presented by NAWJ's Ensuring Racial Equity and the Justice System Committee, this informative webinar addresses barriers to the fair selection of juries that represent a cross-section of the community as well as efforts to overcome those barriers. Topics include: (1) recent changes in state laws with respect to the exercise of peremptory challenges; (2) judicial efforts to overcome barriers in court; and (3) best practices. Panelists will address the scope of the law nationally and state-by-state with respect to jury selection, ways to work with the existing system of the courts to encourage fair and equitable jury selection, and invisible barriers to jury service for members of the community.
