Lunch (Famous New Orleans Sandwiches) and Tour of Eden House

Eden House is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) two-year residential program for women who have been commercially and sexually exploited. Modeled after Magdalene House in Nashville, Tennessee, Eden House provides six to eight women a safe and supportive home for two years, free of cost. Through Eden House, women receive wrap-around services such as counseling, education, and job training. Since addiction is often connected with prostitution, a twelve-step program is part of the Eden House model. The program is highly successful: two and a half years after beginning the program, 72% of the women who join Nashville’s Magdalene House are clean, sober, and no longer being sexually exploited and trafficked.

Dessert and Coffee at the Fayard Home

The home of Calvin and Frances Fayard located at 5809 St. Charles Avenue is a familiar New Orleans landmark. Architects Toledano and Reusch designed and built the mansion in 1896 for grocery tycoon Nicholas Burke as a gift to his bride. Architect Robert Cangelosi, Jr. called the Fayard home “unquestionably the most impressive and photographed house on the Avenue. . . an outstanding example of the picturesque mode of the Colonial Revival style.” The Fayards are only the fourth family to own this splendid home.

Guided Bus Tour of the
New Orleans Garden District and
Uptown University Areas

Enjoy a tour through the New Orleans’ elegant Garden District, once part of the plantation owned by Bienville, the founder of New Orleans. Visit the “American” section of town that was built to rival the architectural splendor of the Creoles’ French Quarter. This historic district is known for its marvelous examples of Greek Revival and Italianate architecture. The homes of former Kings and Queens of Mardi Gras are located here, as well as the home of the premier family of football - the Mannings - where Archie lives and Peyton and Eli grew up. You'll also see the former residence of celebrated author Anne Rice, as well as the house where Jefferson Davis died in 1889; and Toby’s Corner, the oldest house in the area (built in 1838). Visit Lafayette Cemetery, one of our Cities of the Dead, and learn about our unusual above-ground burial system. Note: Some of the tour will be a walking tour on uneven sidewalks and streets, so please wear comfortable shoes! The bus will also drive down St. Charles Avenue and view New Orleans uptown area, Audubon Park and Tulane University and Loyola University
