Legislative Update: Status of LGBTQ Rights Due to Recent State Laws Across the U.S.; Welcoming LGBTQ+ People in Our Courthouses

Sponsored by NAWJ's LGBTQ+ and Judicial Education Committees, the ABA Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Commission, and the ABA Judicial Division, this program will help judges understand the impacts of legislation affecting LGBTQ+ people around the country as well as address issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity and expression (SOGIE) that may arise in courthouse settings. Speakers will discuss recent state laws limiting the rights of LGBTQ+ people. Speakers will provide best practices to ensure a welcoming and inclusive courthouse environment for all people, including LGBTQ+ people. A recent travel advisory will also be discussed.
