Dr. Dacia P. Hastings Proctor, DM, LICSW, LCSW-C, CPM
The Wellness presentation will concern itself with women in stressful and demanding jobs in the legal profession, or other analogous professions, which routinely require or involve a high level of intellectual rigor, intense exposure to emotional trauma and dysfunction, keen problem solving ability and responsibility for imposition of accountability, challenges to our authority, heavy workloads, short deadlines for producing substantive work, and close scrutiny from colleagues, the public, and superiors. All of this takes place for women lawyers and judges in a competitive work environment. In addition, this session will touch on the adverse physical impact of sitting for prolonged periods, and how to minimize or counteract those effects. We will discuss exercises and other practices that we may consider during the work day, or in our spare time, that would support our wellness and our specific situation given our demanding lives.
