LEGAL ASSISTANCE

 

Fresh Start // DPD Kate Braner

-Assists with reducing convictions

-Comprehensive criminal record relief

-Gives guidance in getting Certificates of

Rehabilitation

Free to Thrive // Kathi Hardy and Jamie Quient

-Serves victims of human trafficking in their recovery and shift from survivors to thrivers

-Legal services include: child custody/family law, expunging/vacating criminal records, victim’s advocacy/court representation

 

Legal Aid // Joe Villasenor

-Provides low-income clients with free civil legal assistance, including legal advice and counsel, effective referrals, and legal representation.

-Offers free help with Calworks/Calfresh, child custody/visitation, and SSI.

 

Health and Human Services Agency  // Tracey Hazel

-Provides food assistance, childcare, cash aid, Cal Fresh and special programs for refugees and human trafficking victims to help them get basic needed services.

 

Project LIFE, North County Lifeline

Living in Freedom from Exploitation (HHSA)  // Kathleen Thomas and Stephanie Gonzalez

-Provides services including emergency services and intensive case management, therapy, emergency housing, food and clothing and the development of a safety plan.

 

 Clean Slate // Keiara Auzenne

-Offers assistance with expungements, early termination of probation, and felony reductions to misdemeanor

 

Disability Rights Center // Rebecca Cervenak

-Provides technical assistance, training, publications and advocacy support

-Provides peer-self advocacy services for people with psychiatric or developmental disabilities

 

Child Support Services // Brianna  Fornerod

-Establishes paternity, obtains and enforces support orders, and may assist with order modification and the Compromise of Arrears Program

-Enhances the lives and well-being of children and promotes family self-sufficiency by establishing and enforcing court orders

-Pathways to Success Academy: a joint pilot program of the college and the jail

-Provides college credits, tutoring and financial aid information to inmates who succeed in the program

-Where formerly incarcerated students come together to support one another on and off campus to promote change

-Provides a full range of comprehensive workforce development programs

-Offers professional job-readiness workshops to improve your job search strategy

 

Kitchens for Good             // Katrina Meredith

-Holds a tuition-free, 12-week certified culinary apprenticeship program for populations considered difficult to employ

-Provides you with technical skills, workforce readiness instruction, case management, and industry certification

 

Second Chance // Robert Coleman

-Provides drug and alcohol free housing

-Offers Job Readiness Training followed by 2 years support in obtaining and keeping employment

-Has a Re-entry Court Program
