Hon. Deborah McNabb's Historic Appointment in Kent County, Michigan

The Michigan Supreme Court made history in November 2023 by appointing Judge Deborah L. McNabb Chief Judge of the 17th Circuit Court, Kent County, Michigan to a term commencing on January 1, 2024. She was unanimously nominated for the position by her 13 (mostly male) colleagues. She is the first woman judge to serve in this capacity in the Kent County Circuit Court. She is also the first judge from the court's family division to ever serve as Chief Judge.
