Hon. Brenda Stith Loftin proudly represented NAWJ at two magnificent events celebrating Rep. Nancy Pelosi's ascension to the position of Speaker of the House. On January 3, 2007, Judge Loftin attended a Tea, held at the Mellon Auditorium in The Great Hall, honoring both Rep. Pelosi and the late Hon. Ann Richards. More than 400 women leaders from all across the country, Democrat and Republican alike, were in attendance. After brunch the following morning at the Library of Congress, Rep. Pelosi was sworn in as Speaker of the House. She is the first woman in this nation's history to hold the position.
