NAWJ District Seven Director and 29th Circuit Court Judge Michele Rick led an NAWJ Michigan cohort in presenting Michigan’s second annual Face of Justice program. The Face of Justice Program is a unique opportunity for high school students to learn more about the legal profession by giving students a tour of the Hall of Justice in Lansing and having them participate in mentoring sessions with judges, attorneys and other criminal justice professionals. The event was on October 30, 2017. This year’s program had the pleasure of being opened by Michigan Justice Bridget Mary McCormack. Over 70 students from three Lansing Public High Schools attended the half-day program. The program also included a panel discussion with practitioners, judges, and law enforcement, a Courtroom tour by Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Amy Ronayne Krause, and a visit to the hands-on Learning Center. Mentors and students enjoyed lunch together before ending the morning. NAWJJ extended a special thank you and acknowledgement to the State Bar of Michigan for its continuing partnership and support of this event.
