The Countdown to New Orleans Has Begun!
Dear NAWJ Members,
I hope you’ve had an opportunity this summer to rest, recharge, and enjoy time with family and friends. As we turn the calendar to August, one thing is certain—the countdown has begun! In just a few short weeks, we will gather in one of America’s most iconic cities for the 2026 NAWJ Annual Conference, October 15–17, and I hope you will make plans to join us.
Our conference planning team has created an exceptional educational program that speaks to the issues facing today’s judiciary while providing practical tools, meaningful dialogue, and opportunities to strengthen the relationships that make NAWJ so special.
This year, we are especially excited to launch our first-ever New Judges Training Seminar, designed specifically for judges who have served five years or less. Investing in our newest members of the judiciary is an investment in the future of justice itself. I cannot wait to see newer judges learning from experienced colleagues while building friendships and professional connections that will last throughout their judicial careers.
And then there is New Orleans.
This conference is especially meaningful to me because New Orleans is my birthplace. Although I spent nearly fifty years building my life and judicial career in Alaska, I have returned to New Orleans to spend summers and holidays with family since I was twelve years old. The city has always held a special place in my heart, and I am delighted to welcome my NAWJ family to a place that has helped shape my own story.
Whether it is the unforgettable food, the rich history, the vibrant culture, the incomparable music, or simply the warmth of its people, New Orleans offers something for everyone. I hope you’ll take time to experience the city with friends old and new because, as we all know, some of the most meaningful conversations happen long after the educational sessions have ended.
NAWJ is about supporting one another, sharing ideas, mentoring the next generation, and standing together in our commitment to justice and the rule of law. Every conference reminds me how fortunate we are to belong to an organization where professional excellence and genuine friendship go hand in hand.
⏰ Early Bird Registration Ends Next Thursday!
There is just one week left to take advantage of our Early Bird registration rate. Register by next Thursday to secure the discounted registration fee, make your travel plans, and reserve your place for what promises to be an unforgettable conference in New Orleans.
If you have been thinking about attending, I hope you’ll join us. Whether this will be your first NAWJ conference or your twentieth, I know you will leave with new ideas, renewed inspiration, and friendships that will continue long after you return home.
Together, we have spent this year building bridges and strengthening ties. I can think of no better place to celebrate what we’ve accomplished—and to prepare for what comes next—than together in New Orleans.
I look forward to welcoming you to my hometown—and to your NAWJ family.
With gratitude,
The Honorable Pamela Scott Washington
President, National Association of Women Judges
