NAWJ WOMEN IN PRISON COMMITTEE CONTINUES FIGHT AGAINST SHACKLING PREGNANT INMATES

NAWJ's Women in Prison Committee joins the Maryland Chapter of NAWJ in support of proposed legislation, Maryland House Bill 829 Correctional Services – Pregnant Detainees and Inmates – Restraint Restrictions and Reporting, which, among other things, would prohibit shackling incarcerated pregnant females. STATE JUSTICE INSTITUTE CONTINUES A PARTNERSHIP WITH NAWJ ON IMMIGRATION AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Over the past two year, NAWJ has developed materials and presented trainings for hundreds of judges across the nation on immigration and human trafficking issues through support of a State Justice Institute (SJI) grant.
